I want every woman to feel as though she does not have to hide anymore. To rise above adversity, and make this short life we have on this earth as wholesome as possible
So, I bet you are thinking who is this woman wanting to connect to my deepest darkest secrets in order to help me grow?
Well quite simply I have had my fair share of life challenges — egg in your face, crap in your lap kinda shit.
For many years I couldn’t quite understand how to move forward in life. I allowed certain situations and experiences consume me, which inevitably caused me extreme pain. From the outside, you probably could not tell. I became a master of ‘the act’, but inside I was dying.
I tried therapy, I attempted to talk things out with friends and family, but the results didn’t meet my expectations. So, I chose to make it a mission to work on my mind-set and train my brain through reading books, following the best gurus, and practising positive affirmations. I live by my favourite quote of all time:
“Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” – Martin Luther king
I cannot begin to tell you the amount of times this has played in my head. It became my life mantra, and ever since I find it easier to move forward and leave the past where it belongs….in the past. You see the more we hang onto pain from people who have inflicted it upon us, the more they have control of us. At some point, we have to learn to take back control, because there is no one more deserving of your life, your soul and ‘YOUR’ future than ‘YOU’.
In life, we have to stop depending on others to save us, and find inner strength. It is also important to surround ourselves with mentors and like- minded people.
Despite the challenges I faced in life I somehow managed to finish University, fulfil a successful career both nationally and overseas, and start a business whilst my son was the tender age of 2.
When we want something so bad that it hurts we cannot ignore the message our soul is trying to send us. I have always received these messages but in my younger years I would ignore them. There would be a voice in my head telling me ‘You are not worthy enough’ ’You will fail’ ‘No one will want to hire you’ Blah da blah da blah! But that wasn’t my voice. That was my brain holding onto trauma and drama. I am so thankful today that I had the courage to let go, and I now have a burning desire that I can no longer ignore to help other women also combat their fears and barriers to success in life.
So, what if you had the support and advice to help you step out of your box and enable you to rise to your full potential? How would you feel if you once and for all were able to shut the noise of your inner demons, and replace it with the whirring of wheels of determination, and the love and support from someone who actually understood your journey?
We are only human and sometimes; especially when you’re trying to meet a personal goal, negativity will filter through and attempt to knock you off your path. We then convince ourselves that we are going to fail if we take the leap of faith. We drown ourselves in concern of what other people will think. We make ourselves small to make others feel more comfortable. Sadly because of this mindset many people therefore live without ever experiencing the pleasure of living the life they truly deserve.
Another favourite quote of mine is from the book ‘The Alchemist’ and sums up exactly what I mean:
“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself,”
The alchemist replies:
“And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity.”
You see it doesn’t really matter what anyone else thinks, or what they may say about you. What matters is that you keep on going. What matters is You.
Follow your dreams. There will be people watching you always, but it is at the right moment when you hear ‘that’ voice that matters. The rest is just noise.
‘It is time to stop hiding and get ready to rise’
